The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation is sending waves of joy for the private sector employees by declaring an official holiday (and even paid) to celebrate New Year 2025.
Confirming the news, the officials said, “The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has announced that Wednesday, 1 January 2025, will be an official paid holiday for all UAE private sector employees for the occasion of New Year’s Day. The decision is in line with the UAE Cabinet Resolution regarding approved public holidays for the government and private sectors.”
MoHRE declares January 1 as an official paid holiday for the private sector every year, upon approval from the UAE Cabinet.
Prior to this holiday, the Ministry has also confirmed two days, namely December 2 and 3, as paid holidays for private and government employees to celebrate the 53rd Eid Al Etihad. Previously, July 7 was declared an official public and private holiday to observe Muharram.
This holiday would mark the last paid day off for private sector employees in addition to their entitled paid leaves provided by their employers every year. Now, they can look forward to official paid holidays in 2025, which is yet to be approved by the UAE Cabinet.
