Success in transformation hinges on agility and empowerment. Over the next five years, people leaders must assume responsibility and hasten HR's impact on business. This challenge was presented by Holger Mueller, an international speaker and advocate for the future of work, during his opening keynote at TechHR Singapore 2022.

Kickstarting his talk on 'The Next Gen of Work: Powered by Tech, Driven by People' at TechHR Singapore 2022, Mueller asks "Where do you see yourself in five years?" He then emphasised that significant transformational changes unfold over a 5+ year timeframe.

As the VP and Principal Analyst at IT services and consulting firm Constellation Research, Mueller highlighted that enterprise acceleration stands out as the most critical trend in his research domain.

The focus on agility and acceleration has resulted in continuous enhancement of enterprise best practices, aligning technology with the intricate demands of business and talent.

However, human capital leaders must recognise that evolving technology brings forth a changing work model, shaping organisational thinking and the future of work. Mueller emphasised this point to a captivated audience at Marina Bay Sands, stressing the emergence of new digital business models fueled by technological transformation.

In this dynamic landscape, elasticity is crucial – the ability to scale up and down resources rapidly to meet evolving needs.

Mueller emphasised the importance of enterprises outpacing the speed of the markets they operate in, especially amidst rapid market changes. Empowering people leaders, particularly first and second-line managers, is key to enhancing enterprise success.

Ultimately, embracing a people-centric and agile approach is paramount. Mueller advocated for a decentralised autonomous organisation model, emphasising the need to move away from traditional hierarchies towards autonomous units capable of independent operation.
